Colin McAlpine is a portraiture and documentary photographer based in Glasgow, Scotland.

Growing up as the youngest of three siblings who were all encouraged to develop their musical and artistic abilities, Colin, as a teenager, was soon a keen musician and artist. Colin`s late father, George, a keen amateur photographer, was soon sowing the seeds of his future career by passing on his love, passion and knowledge of photography.

After carving out a successful career in sales management for over 18 years, Colin faced redundancy twice in 6 months. It was this life changing situation that nudged Colin into returning to full time education to study a BA Hons Degree at City of Glasgow College, allowing him to pursue a career and develop his lifetime love of art and photography, making better use of his artistic talent.

Though Colin`s work is focussed towards portraiture and documentary photography, recently, Colin has focussed on videography, having worked in collaboration with Police Scotland producing a Student Safety short film. Colin has also worked alongside several charities including Simba and Downs & Proud.

Colin offers 1-2-1 tuition in photography and using editing software, as well as running Studio Photography Workshops based in his studio located in Glasgow`s East End.

Colin currently lectures Photography part-time at South Lanarkshire College.
